Forgetting things?

How can I clear my mind?

The busier life we live the more organized we should be. The human mind is amazingly capable of functioning brilliantly under pressure, but sometimes too much is way too much. What starts to happen is that your brain starts to prioritize tasks and things to remember. Unfortunately, that system is not always the same as how you would like to prioritize. If your life is work orientated your brain chooses to forget some minor personal matters over work-related deadlines or vice versa. Of course, it would be ideal not to forget anything. How to start getting organized? As you already know routines help. Enough sleep, balanced rest, good nutrition and plenty of water are key elements to a well-balanced life.

Does food help you to think?

When your energy intake is in line with your activity level and your blood sugar levels stay stable, your mind also has the means to function better. One big issue and a problem that easily forms brain fog is sugar. When we feel tired and the sofa is calling loudly after a long workday, it is easy and convenient to boost energy levels with white sugar. Our bodies crave a quick fix and our brain asks for that fix. But sugar levels that bounce up and down are not helping to clear the mind. On the contrary, the tiredness and brain fog may get worse. So when the candy is calling take a bite out of an apple. Remember food is important to your brain and that you are consuming nutrients when you think. The more you need to multitask and be creative the better you should feed your body and keep your energy levels stable.

Exercise your brain

As you learn so does your brain. You can reset your thinking and make your brain work for you. To do so, you must exercise your brain. Brain exercise should be something that makes you excited. Paint, read, sing, play music or learn a new skill set. Our brain loves to be used. Give your brain problems to solve to learn to solve problems. Fight boredom with a new recipe for dinner or just a nice conversation with someone - choose a topic that challenges your minds. When your brain needs to rest listen to music, watch a movie or go out for a walk in the woods. Fresh air works wonders.

Make lists and schedules

Avoid pushing your stress levels too high by trying to remember everything. Learn to use a calendar, write notes to yourself and make your own timetable manageable. When you are planning your comings and goings, make sure you reserve enough time to get from one place to another and make sure that you schedule some time to set your bearings. That is something that does not need to take a lot of time, it is just a breather, but it is something incredibly important to your inner balance. Taking a pause and resetting your focus makes life so much easier. By focusing on the situation at hand you are present in the moment for yourself and to those around you as well. And remember we all have days when we are not able to complete all our tasks. Evenings after those days are the most important. You must tell yourself that it is ok to have things remaining on the to-do list and most of all give yourself permission to let go of those things for the night. You can not get them done in your sleep anyway and NO ONE else expects that from you either. If you fear you forget them, then write a note to yourself to remind you of that in the morning. You deserve a good night sleep.
