How do you determine to be balanced?

Are you lost in your routines?

It is amazing how well people can adapt and cope. No matter how bad things feel most carry on relentlessly. Not realizing the weight building up and numbing the sensations. Routines give safety but can be deceiving. Attention is drawn to performing everyday duties while the self is being suffocated under pressure. It is alarmingly easy to lose the sense of hunger and thirst. And even more terrifying is that losing those senses do not raise the alarm that all is not well. On the contrary, I have seen the pride in not needing to take a lunch break and eat. This alone is a sign that you are getting lost.

Food is life

Think about remodelling your home and all the little things you need to make it perfect. It is the same with your body. It needs much more than just bricks or hardwood. Proteins give a solid constitution but the beauty is in the garnishes. I am not getting deeper into different diets now. I am merely pointing out that a variety of food fills your batteries and regular rhythm gives your body security. When your body knows that the food will arrive in regular intervals it will confidently use the ingredients to make you feel better. This is the first step to de-stress and balance.

We are water

Be water is a quote used a lot in Martial Arts due to waters ability to flow and be hard and soft at the same time. But I am now addressing something way more basic. To exaggerate a little we are human cucumbers and there is a lot of water within us. You do not want to be a pond that stands still. Think how stinky those can be. You want to be a mountain spring filled with fresh flowing water. You know where I am heading. Yes. You need to replenish your reservoirs constantly to keep the spring flowing. If you do so you will feel the difference everywhere from your heart up to your brain.

If you feel sleepy

We need structure and routines in our life. As we did when we were children.  We have grown up to be more adaptive. Unfortunately, we abuse this treat especially when we are young. Sleep seems to be overrated when everything else is more fun. The late nights gain upon most of us and our bodies demand settlement.

There are three major reasons for feeling sleepy.

First, your energy cycle is off. You do not replenish the same rate you consume - food, water or sleep. Second, you are doing all the above and keeping up with everything that is going on within, but something from the outside is draining your storage and preventing you from proper sleep. These outside issues can be for example relationships, work or lack of work, financial issues, health problems within a family. And third, are all issues with the self that when unbalanced will cause the most severe problems both internally and externally.

As you can tell the first one is the easiest one to fix. You just need to start paying more attention to your habits. The second and third need more work to be addressed properly. But the first step is to slow down enough to be able to pay attention and to listen to your body.

What is the balance?

To put it simply, the balance is not the absence of distraction and stress. The balance is a way to live feeling harmonious and content while elements of destruction co-exist everywhere. The balance is finding your own path and security. The balance is a way of being strong enough under pressure and yet be able to keep all senses active. The balance is a harmony of yin and yang. And to be balanced means that you should find your inner peace and sound of reason even the surrounding world seems fighting against you. You can make it easier by covering your basic needs every day.
